There is a darkness on this record that just envelops me, but in a way that feels like a warm hug. This is one of but a few albums I can put on when I am in a dark place or feeling low and it makes me feel alive, content, and happy again. My absolute favourite album of 1998 and for me, an actual lifesaver.

I Was Cruel is my absolute favourite Magic Dirt track. I prefer the 9-minute 10" version with Daniel which hasn't been reissued since the 90s (hopefully soon!) but the album version with Dave T is still an absolute beast. Adam's drumming throughout this album is astounding.
